Artist's Description
This is the Van Sandt Covered Bridge located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Built in the 1800's, it is a truss system bridge.
But it also has an unusual nickname. The Crybaby Bridge...as it is rumored to be haunted.
Local lore tells the tale of a distraught mother who threw her baby off this bridge, into the Pidcock Creek below. The story goes that she then proceeded to hang herself from a rafter on the bridge.
Is the local tale true? Maybe, maybe not. But I do know that the only things I heard and saw while photographing this bridge, were birds singing and a peaceful country road.
